General History concentration
The General History concentration (GENZ) is an excellent choice for students planning careers in government service, law, and other professional occupations requiring broad intellectual and practical skills. This is also a strong major for students planning to pursue graduate study. History majors who select the General History concentration must complete a second major or minor offered at C.S.U.
The Language concentration (LNGZ) supports students planning to pursue graduate study in history or careers in business, education, and other professional occupations for which the study of a second language is required or advantageous.
Social Studies Teaching concentration
The Social Studies Teaching concentration(SSTZ) is for students who plan to teach in junior high, middle school, or high school. Students who select this concentration must also complete the requirements for the social studies undergraduate teaching licensure in the College of Applied Human Sciences School of Teacher Education and Principal Preparation (STEPP). Further information about STEPP and licensure requirements is available on the program's web site.
Social and Behavioral Sciences concentration
The Social and Behavioral Sciences concentration (SBSZ) is intended to facilitate the timely graduation of History majors who decide to transition from the Social Studies Teaching concentration to another concentration in their third or fourth year of study at C.S.U.
The specific requirements for each concentration may be found in the University's General Catalog or on the check sheets available on this web site.
