Zachary Guiliano

Zachary is a second-year graduate student researching military history under the advisement of Dr. Robert Gudmestad and a Dan Tyler Graduate Editorial Fellow with the Western Historical Quarterly.

Zachary earned his B.A. in Political Science in 2023 from the University of Colorado Boulder, and worked as the Program Coordinator of the University of Colorado Boulder Applied History Initiative from 2023 to 2025. He is a veteran of the United States Army and the Afghan-American War, and his ongoing thesis seeks to compare the twenty-first century Afghan-American War and the nineteenth century Apache Wars. An essay written by Zachary about interpreters during the Global War on Terror, “Keeping Faith: Interpreters in the Global War on Terror” will be published as a chapter in Translating Past to Present: Interpreters in the American West and Beyond (University of Nebraska Press, 2025).
