The Rosenberg Scholarship
The E. Michael Rosser family established this scholarship to honor Dr. Harry Rosenberg, who impacted the lives of thousands of students in his courses in Medieval and Ancient History at CSU. He was a well-respected scholar, mentor, and friend. View Dr. Harry Rosenberg’s obituary.
Mark Anthony Klein Scholarship
In honor of Mark Anthony Klein, a CSU History student, this scholarship acknowledges intellectual commitment to historical study, community service, environmental activities, zest for life, and a positive influence on others.
Anne Ratliff Rosser Scholarship in Public and Environmental History
In honor of pioneering women, Anne R. Rosser and Mary Patricia Holvey, this scholarship encourages the study of history west of the 100th meridian, preservation of our heritage and traditions, and communication of the frontier experience to the general public.
Fay Samadi Fiuzat History Scholarship
Donors, Abbas A. Fiuzat and Fay S. Fiuzat, both born in Iran, were married in 1971. Both attended CSU from 1976 to 1980, whereby Abbas obtained his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and Fay obtained her Master's in History. They followed different academic and private careers afterwards. In honor of the 50th anniversary of their marriage, Abbas has created this endowment in Fay's name to help CSU in following its academic mission.
Susan A. Stearns History Scholarship
Established in 2022, the Susan Stearns Scholarship supports students studying History at CSU. Susan graduated in 1976 with a B.A. in History from Colorado State University. Susan went on to law school at the University of Colorado in Boulder, graduating with a Juris Doctorate in 1979. Susan built a career in elder law and estate planning until her retirement in 2013. She had built a life of giving and volunteering in Colorado, and this scholarship continues to fulfill her dedication to public service and passion for the next generation of historians and legal professionals.
Awards
Each year the History Department recognizes the hard work and achievements of undergraduate and graduate students. Students do not apply for these awards.
The Meyer Nathan Memorial Award
In honor of Dr. Meyer Nathan, this award recognizes political awareness, compassion, and service on campus and in the community. The award is available to any junior or senior undergraduate in the College of Liberal Arts with a demonstrated interest in History. The departmental awards committee selects the recipient based on faculty nominations.
The Norman Furniss and Sidney Heitman Awards
In honor of Dr. Norman Furniss and Dr. Sidney Heitman, these awards recognize outstanding academic achievement. The Furniss Award recognizes a senior History major and the Heitman Award recognizes a junior History major. The departmental awards committee selects the recipients based on their G.P.A.
Outstanding Graduate Student Awards
These awards recognize the achievements of History Department graduate students. The Graduate Studies Committee selects the recipients based on faculty nominations.
History Graduate Scholarship
This award recognizes an incoming graduate student. Preference is given to students from under-represented groups. The Graduate Studies Committee selects the recipient based on their application materials.
