This is an exciting opportunity to meet virtually with National Trails Historian, Guy McClellan, on November 9th from 12:00-1:00. While most historians’ work brings them into contact with buildings, structures, or artifacts, National Trails Historian, Guy McClellan, built his career in history around trails. He currently works with the National Park Service to preserve historic trails and tell their stories. McClellan also authored a map series documenting the names of historic trails located near the Santa Fe trail. Among a variety of research methods, spatial history is what drives his current work on trails. McClellan also cites his training in digital methods as critical to his job search success.

This session will also be useful to students interested public history, digital humanities, or pursuing careers in the National Parks, federal land management agencies, or in federal service more broadly.

Guy’s presentation will focus on sharing stories from his career path, advice on navigating the change from student to professional, and how to nab that elusive first job post-graduation. McClellan’s presentation will be followed with a Q&A session, so come prepared with your career queries!
