After a decade under the stewardship of the University of Oklahoma, the Western Historical Quarterly (WHQ), has been placed with a new Institutional Host at Colorado State University.

Founded in 1969, the WHQ has been the official journal of the Western History Association (WHA), an organization centered on the study and teaching of the diverse history of the North American West. The journal releases original articles and regional studies on the expansive history of the North American West, including frontier expansion, colonization, indigenous histories, transnational, comparative, and borderland histories.

For the next 15 years, the journal will be stewarded by many of the Department of History’s experts in public lands, the environment, and North American History, with Professor Jared Orsi, serving as the journal’s editor.

“As stewards of the fifty-year-old American West Program at Colorado State University, the CSU editorial team is honored to continue its service to western history and its commitment to producing dynamic current conversations and scholarship in the field.” – The CSU Editorial Team

Orsi is joined on the CSU Editorial Team, by Associate Professor, Michael Childers, Associate Professor, Leisl Carr Childers, and Associate Teaching Professor, Doug Sheflin. The Editorial Team will support the journal’s daily operations and expand the journal’s scholarly production. Learn more about the board below:
