History faculty are recognized by the administration, colleagues, and students in the College of Liberal Arts

Jared Orsi received the Ann Gill Excellence in Teaching Award. This is a prestigious award in CSU’s College of Liberal Arts. It was created to recognize faculty members who are instrumental in students becoming life-long learners, critical and creative thinkers, and outstanding communicators and performers, and engaged and caring citizens of their various communities.

Orsi was recognized for using innovative digital resources in the classroom. He helped students develop large-scale projects to do everything from explore political history to solve real-world problems. Students and colleagues praise Jared Orsi’s motivation “to make each class a collaborative intellectual community.”

Sarah Payne received the Phi Alpha Theta/History Club Outstanding Professor Award. Payne received multiple student nominations that highlighted her high academic standards, emphasis on practical skills related to Public History, and her graciousness in serving on many graduate student committees.
